Location

Gilbert, approximately bounded by Baseline Road to the north, Melody Drive to the south, Hobson Street to the east and McQueen Road to the west. However, the contaminant plume is limited to the immediate area of the former Applied Metallics Incorporated facility at the southeast corner of the intersection of Baseline Road and McQueen Road in Gilbert.

Contaminants of Concern

Tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), and cis 1,2-dichloroethene (DCE) 

Action Taken

Two early response action (ERA) remedial projects at the site have significantly reduced the contamination by treating pumped groundwater and by operating a soil vapor extraction (SVE) system to extract vapors from the soil. 

Status

The remedial investigation (RI), remedial objectives (RO), feasibility study (FS) reports, proposed remedial action plan (PRAP) and record of decision (ROD) have been completed. The remedy is monitored natural attenuation (MNA). The remedy has been implemented at outlined by the ROD. ADEQ is also conducting an In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) Pilot Test at the Site to accelerate the remedy.
