On Nov. 8, 2024, a second comment period begins for the supplemental proposed rulemaking to address EPA comments regarding the recently proposed updates to the numeric criteria that protect human health and safety uses for surface waters in Arizona. This supplemental proposed rulemaking refines the initial rulemaking proposal by properly incorporating EPA rounding methodology, ensuring that ADEQ’s updates meet the scientific rigor required by the Clean Water Act (CWA). The comment period ends Dec. 20, 2024.
