An active municipal solid waste landfill (approximately 283-acre waste footprint) in southeast Tucson that has been in operation since 1967.

Contaminants of Concern

Tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) 

Action Taken

In 1999, the City of Tucson (COT) implemented a groundwater Pump and Treat System with Re-injection and Reuse (PTR) of the treated water as required by a 1995 Remedial Action Plan (RAP).

Status

COT has continued operations of the PTR system onsite. 

Since startup of the PTR system in 1999, approximately 817.3 million gallons of groundwater have been treated and approximately 40.3 pounds of PCE and 14.7 pounds of TCE have been removed.

COT also monitors two privately owned wells in the area annually, neither detected PCE or TCE above their respective AWQS in 2023.
