Forecast Discussion:

Rain chances will increase in southern Arizona today and tomorrow, hopefully bringing down particulate matter levels after a dusty week due to increased surface winds.

Fortunately, no exceedances occurred across the state yesterday due to blowing dust. Prior rainfall in northern Arizona helped to stabilize soils, and we're hoping for the same now in southern AZ.

Most rain showers will be situated in the southeastern corner of the state, with afternoon chances for scattered, light showers today and tomorrow afternoon.

A stray shower may make its way to Yuma, but the southwestern corner of the state will be mostly dry.

As for air quality, trends will slightly improve compared to earlier this week, with a recovery over the weekend as higher pressure rebuilds in the region.
